Rufus House Hotel

This elegant Victorian house in the heart of the New Forest National Park was built in 1876 as a country residence, many original features are found throughout the building.

Clean and bright, each thoughtfully appointed room of Rufus House includes en-suite shower facilities, free WIFI, flat screen TV, relaxing sitting area with sofa or chair.

Rufus House New Forest Breakfast...
AA award winning Rufus House New Forest Breakfast is cooked fresh to order, we aim to provide a healthy diet for our guests; our breakfast is cooked with the best quality locally produced ingredients by using little oil and salt.  We grow herbs all year around and tomatoes for summer in our garden.

We support Local Producers and Communities. Room keys are made by a local craftsman. Visit New Forest Producers Markets for food, drink and crafts; you would find a flavour of the New Forest to take home.

Gifts and Special Occasions...
We are happy to assist you with advance purchase of flowers, fruits and chocolates or pre-booked Mindfulness Workshop. Please discuss your requirements with us when making your reservation.

Wildlife and Car-Free Tourism...
Lyndhurst is an ideal location for cycling and walking, you can enjoy without the need of a car. Our lockable cycle store is located in the rear car park for your use. From spring to summer, exploring the area on a New Forest Tour Bus is also an ideal way to get around. You can 'hop on and hop off' around the Forest all day and take your bike with you.

We encourage wildlife into our garden, our pond with beautiful Koi-fish supporting wildlife, frogs and dragon flies are often seen in the garden.

Please don't feed the ponies and give them a space...
Human food can cause severe colic and could kill the ponies, so…please look, but don't feed the ponies. Feeding and touching the New Forest ponies encourages them onto busy roads, they are more likely to be killed or injured by cars. If you are driving please stay under 40mph, in some areas 30mph, and slow right down when near to animals and cyclists and give them a wide berth to help prevent accidents.

‘New Forest Animal Emergency Hotlines’ cards and copies of  5 ways to love the forest’ leaflet are available at reception.

Body Massage and Facial...
We are happy to assist you advance booking of treatments at Holistic Hideaway Natural Therapy Studio in Lyndhurst. With advance booking and subject to availability, our guests will receive 5% discount.
